If I didn’t write about it, or take photos, did the ride happen?

Wow, what happened to the past few days? Seems like I’ve been playing catch-up all day at the shop, every day this week, and not getting anywhere. Hey, it’s great that the warmer weather is bringing people back in for bikes, repairs, accessories… all the stuff that pays the bills. But going from watching paint dry a few weeks ago to this… so quickly… it’s just a bit of a shock!

Who knew that the bike biz was so heavily influenced by the weather. I say that sarcastically; what could be more important to the cyclist than weather? And January, well, it was the first really wet January in 5 years. Turn back the clock a bit further, and this past January seemed almost normal. But 4 “drought” years in a row and it becomes the new normal. You get spoiled.

It’s good to be spoiled once in a while. Besides, it’s not like we can change the weather (although arguably, if enough people rode bikes more often, we could help change the weather for the better, right?). So why not just relax and enjoy it.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been slow lately. I’ve been “relaxing” too much! Tuesday was a pretty slow day up Kings; Today wasn’t much different. Both days the weather was fantastic; lower-40s at the start, warming up another 10 degrees as the ride went on. Very easy to dress for weather like that; leg warmers, base layer, long-fingered gloves… that’s about it. Don’t even need a jacket.
