First ride as a 69 year old not so bad!

It would have been nice if younger Kevin (not ex-pilot) had been able to ride, but the best he could do, with a still-painful knee, was 11 miles at an easy pace on Zwift… and he still hurt.

Ex-pilot did show up though. Not so nice getting to the start, nor to the top of the hill. Not too warm in the mornings yet! We saw 37-39F for most of the ride, which wasn’t bad once we started climbing. Thank goodness for electric heated gloves… no way could I be riding otherwise.

Kings was actually fun again. I had some power and could ride on up ahead, wait for ex-Pilot to catch up, and do it again. I made it to the park entrance at 220 watts average, with Strava thinking it was a 100% effort but, truthfully, I probably could have averaged 230 this morning. Which really isn’t much to brag about!!! But better than a gradual decline. I think I’m doing a bit better because I’m starting to work sprints back into my workout, which helps to combat muscle wasting.
